HACCP Safety Films for Holding Glass Together
HACCP safety films, used to protect glass, are a special type of protective film designed to prevent glass fragments from spreading if the pane breaks. They are especially important in places where food is produced or processed, helping reduce the risk of product contamination by glass fragments.

Install HACCP Film and Improve Safety – Why Is It Worth It?
Glass is a fragile material and, when broken, can cause serious injury. It is also difficult to clean up safely. An unprotected pane breaks into sharp glass pieces that can easily injure people, get into food or damage objects. The solution is to use HACCP safety window films, which are designed to meet strict safety requirements.
How Does This Film Work?
HACCP safety film protects the window so that even if the glass breaks or cracks, the pane does not fall apart or breaks into smaller pieces with more rounded edges.
What Does It Mean That a Film Is HACCP?
HACCP is a global system developed in the United States in 1960 for food safety management. The full name, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point, refers to hazard analysis and critical control points.
The purpose of the HACCP standard is to eliminate glass fragments that may appear when a pane or another glass surface breaks or cracks. HACCP safety film applied to glass, even the thinnest version with a thickness of only 0.1 mm, can hold the pane together and, in the event of breakage, help prevent glass pieces from scattering.
In addition, it increases the resistance of glass to damage and scratches. It is required in the food industry, including bakeries and wholesalers, as well as in public institutions.
Why Choose Safety Films?
Standard HACCP film is completely transparent and almost invisible, so after installation it does not affect the aesthetics of the room or darken the interior. The light transmission of this type of film is approximately 92%, which is practically unnoticeable.
However, HACCP film is available in different variants, and not all of them have such high light transmission. For example, 3B3 Silver safety film, which combines the benefits of solar window films and safety films, will have lower light transmission than a standard clear safety film.
HACCP film is very thin – its thickness is only 0.12 millimetres. The film can strengthen and hold even fragile glass when breakage or cracking occurs.
Another advantage is UV protection, which helps reduce fading of furniture and other objects inside the room.
Benefits of using HACCP safety film
- holds cracked or broken glass together,
- reduces up to 99% of harmful UV rays,
- protects glass against mechanical damage,
- is transparent and invisible on the glass,
- is available in different safety classes,
- is available in exterior and interior versions,
- is easy to install,
- meets the requirements of the European Union directive, the HACCP system and BRC classification.
Remember that glass covered with safety film is tested for accidental impact. During testing, the glass is struck several times with a soft body weighing 50 kilograms. This helps confirm that, if the pane breaks, dangerous and sharp glass fragments will not enter the building interior.
What Are the Safety Classes of HACCP Film?
Until recently, resistance classes O1 or O2 were used for safety glass. Today, protective glass is defined by the EN/PL 12600 standard, which uses different safety classes, also commonly referred to as approvals.
Protective film may have the following safety classes:
- 1B1 safety film,
- 2B2 safety film,
- 3B3 safety film.
Lite Solar HACCP safety film, available in our store, has safety approvals, hygienic approvals and approval from the Building Research Institute. It also meets the BRC standard.
Where Can Safety Film Be Installed?
Although HACCP films are intended for use in the food industry, they can also be successfully installed in other facilities, such as schools, kindergartens, public offices, offices and homes. They are also very effective for protecting glass partition walls, shop windows and other glass structures.
Safety Film Installation
HACCP safety films are designed so that DIY installation is possible. With proper surface preparation and calm, precise work, application is fully achievable even without previous experience.
For many users, this is a convenient solution that allows them to quickly protect glazing on their own. However, if any doubts appear during installation or there is not enough time for precise work, a professional window film installation service is also available nationwide and covers all products from our offer.
