Projection films – how to display an image on glass
Projection film makes it possible to turn a glass surface into a projection screen. It is most often used in shop windows and offices, but not only there. With this solution, you can turn a living room into a small home cinema and display films, photos and any animations on the glass.
The advantage of this solution is that the quality of the displayed image is comparable to the quality known from LED and LCD televisions. Projection film is a type of interior film. It is applied to transparent glass or plastic, such as plexiglass, to turn it into an animated screen.
In practice, any glazed surface can be turned into a background for displaying any materials from a projector – these can be films, photos, advertisements, presentations and more. Projection film is ideal for displaying promotions, advertisements and product launches on shop signs.
Projection films – image projection method
All projection films are interior films. Depending on the image projection method, projection films are divided into:
- Rear projection films: the projector is placed behind the projection screen, and the image is visible from the front of the screen.
- Front projection films: the projector is placed in front of the projection screen, and the image is visible from the front of the screen.
- Dual-sided projection films: the projector is placed behind or in front of the projection screen, and the image is visible on both sides of the screen.
Holographic projection films are also available. This is a special film for spatial 3D image projection based on the Pepper’s Ghost illusion technique – the image appears to be suspended in the air.
Benefits of projection film
Projection films can be used wherever the priority is to attract attention, for example to interest passers-by with an image displayed on a shop sign. They are commonly used in advertising on shop windows, retail facilities, showrooms, shopping centres, pubs, trade fair presentations and similar spaces. They are also increasingly used in homes as a way to make interiors more attractive and as an alternative, for example, to digital photo frames for displaying pictures.
- the film is self-adhesive, which makes it easy to install,
- the film is suitable for glass and plastic surfaces,
- the film makes it possible to obtain a spatial image,
- the film provides high contrast of the displayed image,
- the film has a high image brightness gain,
- the image displayed on the film can be viewed from a wide angle, even up to 180 degrees.
Projection films can be freely combined with one another, allowing you to create even a huge projection screen. In addition, the films can be cut into any shape, so you can flexibly adapt the screen to your needs. What is more, by cutting the film into a selected shape, you can achieve an impressive visual effect, because the image will be intense only on the film, while outside it the image will be diffused. The ease of installation is also important – projection films are applied in the same way as any other window film, simply and quickly.
