How does anti-burglary window film work?
Anti-burglary window film is a specialist, multi-layer protective solution designed to strengthen glass and help protect against break-ins and the consequences of broken windows. It is a clear self-adhesive PET film with a much greater thickness than standard window films, often from 240 microns in P1 protective film to over 400 microns. The film is made of multiple PET layers bonded with a strong adhesive, supporting flexibility and helping to hold glass fragments together after impact.

Mechanism of anti-burglary window film
Glass reinforcement and fragment retention: the film is applied to the glass, usually on the interior side, creating one protective surface with the pane. It works like a flexible membrane or an additional layer of strong transparent laminate. When the glass is hit, even if it breaks, the film helps keep the fragments together, limiting glass scatter and making it harder to create an opening.
Making forced entry more difficult: anti-burglary window film can significantly slow down or obstruct access through a window. It extends the time a potential intruder needs to force the barrier, which can give security services more time to react or discourage the intruder from continuing. Even after the glass breaks, the film makes it much more difficult to remove the glass from the frame or clear the opening.
Protection against injuries: by holding broken glass together, the film helps reduce dangerous glass shards and supports the safety of people inside the building. This is especially important in places used by children and in public facilities.
Key properties that affect how anti-burglary window film works

- Thickness: this is one of the key features of protective security films. In general, the thicker the film, the greater its resistance to damage and attempts to force entry. P2A anti-burglary window film is approximately 350–360 microns thick.
- Multi-layer structure: several PET layers help provide durability, impact resistance and flexibility.
- Clear appearance: standard anti-burglary film is practically invisible on the glass, does not noticeably change the look of the building and does not reveal the presence of additional protection to an intruder.
- UV filter: anti-burglary window films include a basic UV filter that blocks most harmful solar UV radiation, helping protect interiors against colour fading and premature ageing of objects.
- Scratch-resistant coating: the films have a scratch-resistant surface layer, which supports durability and makes everyday cleaning easier.
What types of anti-burglary window film are available?
Anti-burglary window films are classified according to the PN-EN 356:2000 standard, which defines resistance to manual attack. Higher classes, such as P1, P2, P3 and P4, indicate greater resistance. For example, P2 class film withstands three impacts of a 4 kg steel ball dropped from a height of 3 metres.
As a rule, anti-burglary window films are installed on the inside of the glass. If interior installation is not possible, we also offer exterior P1 anti-burglary window film. More information about that version is available in the product description.
Our range also includes P1 Silver interior solar security window film. In addition to meeting the P1 class requirements, it has a reflective solar layer that reduces room heat build-up and provides daytime privacy. The privacy effect works until the light is switched on inside, just like with traditional one-way mirror window films.
Despite its effectiveness, anti-burglary window film is a delay-based security solution. It does not guarantee 100% protection, is not bulletproof and is not designed to resist very powerful explosive charges. For blast-related protection, dedicated anti-blast films are used.
Benefits of anti-burglary window film
Increased resistance class: P2A–P4A
Anti-burglary window film significantly strengthens glass, increasing its resistance to impact and attempted forced entry. P1A, P2A and higher classes are available. Although the film does not make a building completely impenetrable, it delays forced entry and creates an additional obstacle, extending the time needed to break through the window.
Protection against breakage and glass fragments
Although this is not its only purpose, anti-burglary film helps hold glass fragments together after the pane breaks. The strong adhesive layer keeps glass pieces attached to the film. As a result, even after a strong impact, the filmed glass forms a “spiderweb” pattern instead of falling apart into sharp, loose pieces.
Reduced risk of cuts and injuries
After the glass breaks, anti-burglary film works like a transparent dressing: its strong adhesive holds the broken fragments together, helping prevent glass from scattering and reducing the formation of sharp loose edges. Thanks to this, a violent impact caused by vandalism, a strong gust of wind or an accident is less likely to turn the pane into flying shards that could injure passers-by, children nearby or customers on the other side of a shop window.
Maintained transparency and natural daylight
Although anti-burglary film consists of several PET layers and can reach a total thickness of more than 400 µm, after installation the standard clear film remains practically invisible on the glass. This does not apply to the Silver anti-burglary version. The optically clear material does not darken the glass, distort colours or change reflections, so the building facade retains its appearance and the interior keeps natural daylight.
Anti-burglary window film pricing
How much does anti-burglary window film cost?
The cost of anti-burglary window film depends mainly on the security class, such as P1, P2, P3 or P4, the thickness of the material and the optical finish, for example clear or reflective Silver. The purchase price is shown above next to each film type.

How can you increase the security of your company, flat, apartment or house?
Glass is one of the weakest points in many buildings. It can be an easy access point for unauthorised people, while modern buildings increasingly use large, elegant glazed areas. These large glass surfaces can be protected in several ways:
- installing bars, which is usually not an attractive visual solution,
- installing anti-burglary shutters, which can also reduce the aesthetic appearance of the building and remain clearly visible,
- installing anti-burglary window films.
Anti-burglary window films are invisible to the surroundings. This can be a major surprise for an unauthorised person. When trying to force the glass, the intruder encounters an unexpected barrier in the form of a transparent protective film. Studies and practical security experience indicate that burglars often plan their actions, and any unexpected obstacle that extends the time needed for entry increases stress and may lead them to abandon the attempt. Every barrier that surprises the intruder helps protect your property.
Anti-burglary window film helps delay forced entry
Tests confirm that protective security film can significantly extend the time needed to break into a building and make forced entry more difficult, often surprising intruders.
If a thief cannot get inside within the first few minutes, they often abandon the attempt and look for an easier target.
Anti-burglary window film compared with anti-burglary glass
Cost:
- Anti-burglary window film: usually less expensive than replacing the entire glass unit with anti-burglary glass.
- Anti-burglary glass: significantly more expensive because it requires purchasing specialist glass and installing it.
Ease of installation:
- Anti-burglary window film: can be installed on existing glass, which is less time-consuming and does not require replacing the whole window structure.
- Anti-burglary glass: requires complete glass replacement, which is more complex and time-consuming.
Completion time:
- Anti-burglary window film: can often be installed quickly, sometimes within a few hours, depending on the project.
- Anti-burglary glass: the glass replacement process takes much longer, depending on material availability and installation time.
Flexibility:
- Anti-burglary window film: can be used on various types of glass and in different locations, for example in homes, offices and vehicles.
- Anti-burglary glass: has a more specialist application and is limited to places where full glass replacement is planned.
Keeping the existing window structure:
- Anti-burglary window film: allows existing window frames and joinery to remain in place, which can be beneficial in historic buildings or buildings with specific architectural value.
Summary: what is anti-burglary window film?
Anti-burglary window film is a type of specialist protective film applied to window glass to increase its resistance to attempted forced entry. It consists of several layers bonded with strong adhesives, making it very difficult to cut or tear.
During a break-in attempt, anti-burglary film works as a barrier that makes it more difficult or, in some situations, prevents an intruder from entering a building through a window. The film not only increases the resistance of glass to forced entry attempts, but also helps reduce glass scatter in the event of impact or explosion.
FAQ – Anti-Burglary Window Films
Where are anti-burglary window films installed?
Anti-burglary window films are installed on the inside. This has an important psychological effect during an attempted break-in. The intruder usually first breaks the outer pane, because an insulated glass unit consists of two or three panes, and then encounters resistance when trying to break the next pane in the same window. This creates frustration: the break-in has started, but unexpected difficulty appears.
Time works against the intruder. If the building has monitoring, the alarm may already be triggered by the first impact on the outer glass. The monitoring station is informed about the attempted break-in while the intruder is still outside. A race against time begins. The intruder knows they may have only a few or several minutes before a patrol arrives, while the next pane is much harder to force.
Does the film affect the aesthetics and transparency of windows?
No, standard clear anti-burglary film does not noticeably affect the aesthetics or transparency of windows. Only the 2-in-1 version with a reflective mirror layer changes the appearance and transparency of the glass.
Can the film be removed without damaging the glass?
Yes. The film can be removed in one piece, and adhesive residue can be washed off without scratching the glass.
How long does the film remain effective and what is the warranty?
The effectiveness of the film lasts as long as the PET layer and adhesive maintain their transparency and adhesion. The warranty is from 5 to 10 years.
Does the film have certificates?
Yes, our original anti-burglary window film has a certificate issued by the Building Research Institute in Warsaw. The films are certified according to the EN/PL 356 standard.
Can I install anti-burglary window film myself?
Yes, anti-burglary window films can be installed independently. However, this requires some manual skill, and anti-burglary film is more difficult to install than standard film because it is thicker. In addition to buying the film itself, you can also order installation by our experienced installers: order anti-burglary window film installation.
What is the difference between anti-burglary film and anti-shatter safety film?
Anti-shatter safety films hold broken glass together, but they are not intended to withstand strong attacks. Anti-burglary window film is more resistant to vandalism and attempted forced entry, including impacts from tools, stones or fire.
