P1 Interior Protective Security Window Film
P1 class security window film is a clear protective film for glass. It is designed to make forced entry more difficult and to help reduce the consequences of broken glass.
The film has increased thickness and high mechanical strength. It can be used on windows as a discreet alternative to bars where this type of protection is appropriate. During an attempted break-in, the film helps prevent the glass from falling apart and keeps broken fragments in one place, making it more difficult to create a quick opening into the room.
Technical tests and protection class
Tests confirm that the glass with this film is resistant to penetration by a falling 4 kg ball from a height of 1.5 m. This is the key test value connected with the P1A protection level mentioned in the product description.
This is a basic P1A security film for windows and balcony doors in houses, flats and offices. It is also suitable for shop windows, kiosks, entrances to pavilions and glazing exposed to accidental impact, for example in corridors, playground areas and production halls.
The film is clear and, after installation, practically invisible on the glass.
Four benefits of P1 protective security window film

The film helps protect the pane from breaking apart and keeps cracked glass together.

The film is clear and practically invisible on the glass after installation.

The film helps reduce the risk of injury caused by sharp glass fragments.

The film reduces harmful UV radiation responsible for fading colours and ageing interior objects.
To protect the room, P1 security window film is installed on the glass from the interior side. Once applied, it remains visually discreet, so the window does not look like a visibly reinforced or barred opening.
The film has the following approvals:
- Building Research Institute approval;
- Hygienic approval.
P1A security film for windows
Security film for windows is a special type of protective film intended to increase resistance to intrusion into a home, office or commercial space. It works by strengthening the pane and helping the glass remain together after impact, which can reduce the risk of theft and injury caused by glass fragments.
We can also offer P2 security window film, a higher resistance class with greater resistance to glass breakage and glass pressure. For help choosing the right security film, please contact us.
Installation conditions for security window film
- The minimum application temperature is +5 °C. The glass must be perfectly degreased, and the film edge should be tucked under the gasket, which reduces the risk of the film being lifted.
- Full strength is reached after approximately 30 days of adhesive curing. During this period, slight haze or a water mosaic may still be visible.
Maintenance
Clean the film only with a soft cloth and ammonia-free cleaning agents. Blades, abrasive powders and aggressive tools may scratch the anti-scratch surface.
Insurance and safety regulations
Certified P1A film may be recognised by many insurers as an additional security measure and, depending on the insurer, may help reduce property insurance costs. In schools, nurseries and public offices, this type of film can also help meet occupational safety requirements for safer glass partitions, including the requirements referred to in Dz.U. No. 75/2003.
FAQ – P1 Interior Security Window Film
What does P1A class actually mean?
According to PN-EN 356, P1A refers to resistance to three drops of a 4 kg steel ball from a height of 1.5 m. The film helps keep broken glass in the frame and extends the time needed to force the pane.
Is P1A enough for a home or office?
Yes, P1A is a popular protection level for windows and balcony doors in flats, offices, small shops and service points. Higher classes such as P2A-P4A are usually chosen for locations with increased risk.
Does clear P1 film change the appearance of the glass?
No. After installation the film is clear and practically invisible on the glass.
Can I install the film myself?
Yes, but because of its thickness of approximately 240 µm it requires precise cutting, firm water removal and tucking the edges under the gasket. For large windows, professional installation is worth considering. MarketFolie can supply the film and provide a complete installation service. For details, please contact us.
How long does installation take?
For a typical 120 × 140 cm window, installation usually takes about 30-50 minutes.
